8-week live cohort Β· Founding intake open

CRO is something you buy.
Experimentation is something you build.

Learn how to move beyond agency-driven conversion testing and build a scalable, org-wide experimentation capability β€” from your first in-house test to a full experimentation platform.

Taught by an experimentation leader with 20+ years and 6,000+ experiments.

The problem with CRO

CRO agencies don't build your capability

Most companies start by hiring a CRO agency. It feels like progress. But the testing stops the moment the retainer does.

βœ•
Results stop when you stop paying

Agency CRO is rented capability, not built capability. When the retainer ends, so does the testing.

βœ•
Insights stay with the agency

Your customer learnings live in their Notion docs and decks, not in your organisation's memory.

βœ•
Testing stays in one lane

CRO focuses on conversion. It rarely drives product decisions, pricing, UX or operations.

βœ•
No internal testing culture

Teams don't learn to think experimentally. The decision-making culture doesn't change.

βœ•
Can't scale across the org

A CRO agency can't embed experimentation into product, marketing and leadership simultaneously.

βœ•
No compounding returns

Each test is a one-off. You're not building a library of insight that makes the next test smarter.

The shift

From buying CRO to building experimentation

Experimentation isn't a bigger CRO programme. It's a different operating model β€” one where testing is how your whole organisation makes decisions.

Before Β· CRO agency model

Testing as a service you buy

  • Outsourced to an agency with limited internal ownership
  • Focused on conversion rates, not strategic questions
  • Tests take weeks to brief, run and report
  • Insights owned by the agency, not the business
  • No internal skills, no culture, no compounding returns
  • Scale by increasing the retainer spend
β†’

After Β· Experimentation platform

Testing as a capability you own

  • In-house programme with full strategic ownership
  • Hypothesis-led decisions across product, marketing and ops
  • Rapid test cycles with self-service tooling
  • A compounding insight library owned by the business
  • An experimentation culture embedded across teams
  • Scale by training more people, not spending more

The five stages of the experimentation journey

Most organisations are somewhere on this path. This programme takes you from wherever you are to a self-sustaining platform.

1
Starting point

CRO Agency

Outsourced testing, conversion focus, no internal ownership

2
First steps

In-House Testing

First internal experiments, basic tools, ad-hoc methodology

3
This programme

Structured Programme

Hypothesis backlog, clear process, documented learnings

4
Target state

Experimentation Platform

Self-service, cross-team, systematic insight generation

5
End goal

Org-Wide Capability

Embedded in product decisions, leadership and culture

The curriculum

What you'll learn

Eight practical modules covering everything from research and statistics to culture-building and AI-powered test design.

🧠

CRO vs Experimentation mindset

Why the shift matters, what changes, and how to make the case internally for a programme.

πŸ”

Research & hypothesis building

Build a fact-based test backlog using analytics, user research and competitive analysis.

πŸ“

Test design & statistics

What makes a valid experiment: sample sizes, significance, guardrail metrics and avoiding false positives.

πŸš€

Running your first in-house programme

Tools, workflows, roles, reporting cadence and how to run your first three tests without an agency.

πŸ‘₯

Building a testing culture

How to get product, marketing and leadership bought in and experimenting alongside you.

πŸ“š

Analysis & learning documentation

How to turn test results into durable organisational knowledge that compounds over time.

βš™οΈ

Scaling to a self-service platform

Tooling, governance, templates and workflows that let teams run tests without a central gatekeeper.

πŸ€–

AI-powered experimentation

Use AI at every stage: hypothesis generation, test analysis, insight synthesis and roadmap prioritisation.

8 weeks, live

The week-by-week syllabus

One live session a week, each ending with something you've actually built β€” a hypothesis, a test design, a process, or a piece of your programme.

Week1

Mindset β€” From CRO to Experimentation

The difference between CRO and experimentation, why it matters, and how to map your current state.

Week2

Research Methods and Hypothesis Building

Build a fact-based hypothesis backlog using analytics, heuristics, session data and user research.

Week3

Test Design and Statistical Fundamentals

How to design valid experiments: sample size, significance thresholds, guardrails and avoiding common traps.

Week4

Running Your First Structured Programme

Tools, roles, cadence and the exact workflow for running your first in-house tests without an agency.

Week5

Cross-Team Adoption and Culture Building

How to bring product, marketing and leadership into the programme β€” and make testing how everyone decides.

Week6

Analysis, Documentation and Learning Systems

Turn results into durable insight: how to document, share and compound organisational learnings.

Week7

Scaling to a Self-Service Platform

Governance, tooling templates and the workflows that let teams experiment without a central bottleneck.

Week8

AI-Powered Experimentation

AI at every stage of the testing cycle β€” an unfair advantage for teams who get there first.

Who it's for

For anyone serious about testing at scale

Whether you're just running your first A/B tests or trying to build an org-wide programme, this is for digital teams who want to own their own capability.

πŸ§ͺ

CRO practitioners

Ready to move beyond agency work and build a programme you own and can scale internally.

πŸ“¦

Product managers

Want to embed experimentation into product decisions and build a data-driven development culture.

πŸ“£

Digital marketing teams

Moving off agency retainers and building in-house testing capability for the first time.

πŸ“Š

Analytics & data teams

Supporting a testing programme and want to build the methodology and infrastructure to do it properly.

🎯

Heads of digital & growth

Responsible for building a testing culture and want a proven framework to do it systematically.

🏒

Any digital business

At any stage β€” from first test to established programme β€” who want to level up their experimentation maturity.

Olly Paton

Experimentation leader Β· Analytics practitioner Β· AI builder

  • 20+ yrs in digital performance & experimentation
  • 6,000+ experiments designed and run
  • Speaker at Speero's Experimentation Circus
  • Creator of Conform (A/B testing platform)

Who's teaching this

Olly Paton has spent over 20 years in digital performance, analytics and experimentation. He has led and contributed to experimentation programmes at Expedia, Hotels.com, Trainline, Hastings Insurance and Skyscanner β€” from small in-house programmes to scaled, org-wide platforms.

He has designed and run over 6,000 experiments across ecommerce, travel, insurance and finance. He spoke at Speero's Experimentation Circus on AI and experimentation, and is the creator of Conform, an A/B testing and experimentation platform built for digital teams.

This programme is built directly from his experience of building and scaling experimentation programmes β€” what works, what doesn't, and how to avoid the mistakes that slow most programmes down.

What you walk away with

Programme outcomes

By the end of eight weeks, you'll have built the foundations of a real in-house experimentation programme β€” not just learned the theory.

πŸ—ΊοΈ

An experimentation roadmap

A structured plan to move your organisation from its current state to a self-service platform.

πŸ”

A hypothesis backlog

A prioritised, evidence-based backlog of tests ready to run β€” built on real research, not gut feel.

πŸ“

Statistical confidence

The knowledge to design valid tests, read results correctly and avoid the most common mistakes.

πŸ“‹

A testing culture playbook

A framework for getting cross-team buy-in and making experimentation how your organisation decides.

βš™οΈ

A self-service framework

Templates, governance and tooling recommendations to let teams run tests without a central bottleneck.

πŸ€–

An AI-powered test workflow

A repeatable workflow using AI for hypothesis generation, analysis and insight synthesis.

πŸ“š

A learning documentation system

A system for capturing and compounding test insights so every experiment makes the next one smarter.

πŸš€

Your first three tests scoped

Leave with three fully designed, ready-to-run experiments for your own product or site.
